Ford E450 RV Tire Cupping: Causes, Diagnosis & Complete Fix Guide

Ford E450 RV Tire Cupping: Causes, Diagnosis & Complete Fix Guide

Walked out to our 2017 Ford E450 Class C this morning and noticed dangerous washboard-like tire cupping on the front right - is this safe with grandkids aboard? Left side is starting to join the party too. Here's the weird part though - this beast still tracks straight as an arrow, no steering wheel shimmy, turns fine, and when I jack it up the tire doesn't wiggle around like a loose tooth.

I'm scratching my head because everything LOOKS fine. Suspension components seem solid, shocks aren't leaking like my wallet at RV parks. But could the shocks actually be shot at only 36,000 miles? And more importantly - if I just slap new tires on this thing without fixing the root cause, am I just going to end up with expensive cupped tires again? …more

Ford E-450 Motorhome Alignment: Complete Caster Adjustment Guide for RVs

After following the Ford manual's factory alignment specs on my 2019 E-450 chassis, this house-on-wheels still wanders like a drunk tourist in Vegas. I'm pretty sure it needs a caster adjustment, but I'm confused about the actual process.

Do I need cam bolts or shims to adjust the caster on an E-450? And what's the sweet spot for positive caster degrees to keep this beast tracking straight? Also heard something about toe adjustments being important after messing with caster - is that really necessary or just another way for the shop to separate me from my beer money? …more

Ford E-450 Class C RV Front Squeak: Complete Diagnosis Guide for Brake

Between leaving my campsite last night and starting up this morning, my Ford E-450 Class C developed this awful front-end squeaking that definitely wasn't there before. My 2004 E-450 Class C with 54k miles has developed a squeak coming from the front end, and I'm not sure how to figure out what's causing it.

The squeak seems to happen at different times - sometimes when I'm braking, other times when going over bumps or rough roads. I've heard it could be anything from brake issues to suspension problems, but I honestly don't know how to tell the difference or what to check first.

Could someone help me understand how to properly diagnose where this front squeak is coming from? I'd really appreciate any step-by-step guidance on what to look for and how to identify whether it's a brake problem versus suspension issue. …more

Dually Inner Tire Valve Stem Extenders: Where to Buy & Install Guide for RVs & Trucks

Got quoted for a whole new valve stem system on my Class C Ford E-450, but shouldn't 4.25x2.25 oval dually stabilizers work for these 225/75R16 tires instead? The inner dually tires are nearly impossible to check air pressure without proper extenders.

What are the best sources for purchasing these specific oval-shaped valve stem extenders? Also wondering if there are alternative solutions that might work better for accessing the inner tire valves. …more

Coleman Mach 10 AC Motor Replacement - Shaft Too Long Fix

Apparently this Coleman Mach 10 AC motor replacement is eating through my entire weekend because the new shaft is way too long for my Winnebago Era. The new motor shaft is way too long compared to what I'm seeing in YouTube videos of other Coleman units. The old blower wheel is stuck tight on the original shaft too - thing won't budge!

Anyone dealt with this before? Do I need to trim the shaft somehow, or is there a better way to handle the length issue? And what's the trick for getting that stubborn blower wheel off without wrecking everything? …more

Diesel vs Gas Class A Motorhome for Family of 6: Expert Advice

Three months of research comparing diesel pushers versus gas Class A motorhomes for our family of 6 has left us more confused than ever!

Here's what's driving me crazy - diesel pushers from around 2010-2012 seem like the budget sweet spot, with their quieter engine placement at the rear and more comfortable ride. But we had a devastating mold problem in our last house that affected everyone's health, and I'm terrified of buying an older RV that might have hidden moisture issues.

The newer gas Class A units (2015 and up) seem like they'd be safer from a mold standpoint, but I worry we're sacrificing ride quality and long-term reliability. Since we don't already own a heavy-duty truck, a motorhome seems more practical than a 5th wheel. With four kids, comfort matters, but their health matters more.

Am I overthinking this, or should the mold risk really be the deciding factor here? I just need someone to tell me straight - which way would you go? …more

Ford F53 V10 AC Expansion Valve Replacement: Complete Parts Guide 2024

Despite buying my 2014 Bounder on a 2013 Ford F53 V10 chassis, the previous owner left me with a busted AC expansion valve that's impossible to source. The valve is threaded and standard RV parts suppliers don't seem to carry the right one.

Where can I find commercial-grade AC components for the F53 chassis? Need reliable sources that understand these aren't regular automotive parts. …more

How to Fix 2022 Ford E-450 RV Tire Pressure Sensor Fault | TPMS Troubleshooting Guide

During my morning drive, that sharp, persistent beeping sound erupts from my 2022 Ford E-450 motorhome dashboard as the "Tire Pressure Sensor Fault" message flashes relentlessly. Because nothing says "relaxing RV vacation" like mysterious warning lights, am I right?

The intermittent fault seems to be coming from the rear tires mostly, and of course it always happens at the most inconvenient times - like when I'm trying to convince my spouse that this whole RV lifestyle was a brilliant idea. I'm wondering if this is just a typical TPMS sensor going bad or if there's some sort of relearn procedure I need to do?

Since this beast is still under warranty, I'm hoping there's a straightforward fix that doesn't involve me pretending to understand tire sensor technology. Anyone know what the usual culprit is for these TPMS faults on the E-450 chassis? …more

Ford V10 Motorhome Weak AC Airflow - Blend Door Actuator Fix Guide

About to dive into the dashboard of my 2001 Rexhall Roseair Mod 3655HLDS built on a Ford V10 chassis — would this blend door actuator repair be covered under any extended warranty? The cab air conditioning system seems to be working - the compressor kicks on, the system is properly charged with refrigerant, and I can hear the blower fan running and changing speeds when I adjust the controls. However, even on the maximum fan setting, there's barely any airflow coming out of the vents.

I've researched potential causes specific to this model: Does this Rexhall have a cabin filter? Where is it located? I've heard about potential issues with directional flow doors blocking airflow - how can I access and check these? Other potential causes include clogged intake air, blocked fan wheel, or a plugged evaporator coil. Where are these components located, and how can I inspect or clean them? I have evacuation equipment, vacuum pump, and gauges ready to help diagnose the problem.

What's the most common cause of weak airflow on this specific Ford V10 chassis motorhome when everything else seems to be functioning? …more

Coachman Euro F53 Chassis Upgrades: Air vs Incremental

Finally hit my budget limit after other RV repairs — is there a way to fix my Coachman Euro 28' F53 Godzilla handling issues for under $500? After 18+ years driving diesel pushers, this thing rides like a covered wagon and steers like a shopping cart at highway speeds. I've gotten quotes for a full air ride suspension conversion at $30K, but that's nearly 20% of the $160K I paid for this RV.

I'm seriously considering the incremental upgrade route instead - maybe $15K spread across Koni shocks, Sumo Springs, sway bars, SuperSteer components, and better tires. Everyone says you can make meaningful improvements this way, but I'm worried I'll still end up disappointed and out the money.

Has anyone actually made their F53 chassis livable with the incremental approach? Can I really get 80% of the benefit for half the cost, or am I just throwing good money after bad? I need this thing to be safe and comfortable for Florida highway driving, but I'm tired of dumping money into what feels like a lost cause. …more

Ford Triton V10 Parasitic Draw Fix: Complete Diagnosis Guide for RV Owners

Between storage seasons and spring startup, my 2006 Southwind with Ford Triton V10 keeps developing the same parasitic draw that kills my battery. After sitting a few days, battery drops to 11.3V. Main symptom: when I turn key off and remove it, power still flows to dash gauges. Needles flicker and I hear buzzing for several seconds after key removal.

Is this a failed ignition switch or could it be stuck relays? What's the proper way to test and confirm the cause before replacing parts? …more

2003 V10 Aftermarket Gauges: ISSPRO vs Other Brands

Every time I see my neighbor's 2003 V10 RV with those crisp ISSPRO aftermarket gauges working flawlessly, I get overwhelmed by all the confusing brand options for mine. For years, I've heard that ISSPRO was considered the gold standard for aftermarket gauges - in fact, I have three ISSPRO gauges in my Dodge Cummins truck that were installed back in the late 90s and they've been rock solid performers.

However, I recently discovered that current ISSPRO gauges are now manufactured in India, not in the USA like they used to be. This has me questioning whether they're still worth the premium price they command. I mean, if ISSPRO gauges are now made in India with potentially different quality control standards than the old USA-made ones, why should I pay more for them compared to other gauges that are also manufactured in India, China, or other overseas locations?

Is the ISSPRO brand name alone enough to justify the higher cost, or should I be looking at other gauge manufacturers that might offer similar quality at a better price point? I want to make sure I'm getting actual value for my money rather than just paying for a brand reputation that may no longer reflect the current product quality. …more
