How to Fix RV Window Separated from Crank Mechanism - Step-by-Step Repair Guide

Pulled open my 2015 Fleetwood Expedition 40X kitchen sink window only to find it completely separated from the metal crank arm mechanism - now debating between calling a mobile RV tech or tackling this DIY. During my last camping trip, I noticed the window was loose and flapping around in the wind, which was both annoying and concerning. When I got back and examined it more closely, I can see that the bond between the glass and the crank mechanism has failed entirely.

I know I need to reattach it with some kind of adhesive, but I'm overwhelmed by all the different options out there. I've seen mentions of products like 3M Windo-Weld and various Sikaflex formulations (like 221, 255, 291), but I'm not sure which one is specifically designed for this type of repair. I also want to make sure I do this right the first time since it's such an exposed area that takes a beating from weather and road vibration.

What's the best adhesive for rebonding a frameless glass window to its crank mechanism, and what's the proper process to ensure it holds up long-term? I want to make sure I clean the surfaces properly and give it adequate curing time before I start operating the window again. …more

RV Window Seal Leaking: Complete Repair Guide & Solutions

Opened up my RV window seals yesterday thinking I fixed the leak, but water's still dripping through during today's downpour — what did I miss? The rubber seals around the frames are obviously shot, all cracked and dried out looking.

I'm torn between two approaches here: should I take the time to completely remove the old seals and put in new butyl tape/rubber sealing, or can I just run some caulk over the existing stuff and call it good? Looking for the best long-term fix that'll actually keep me dry! …more

How to Install Heavy Battery in Ford F53 Chassis: Step-by-Step Guide Without Injury

Group 31 AGM battery weighs 75 pounds and sits in the worst possible spot on my F53 chassis — wedged behind the step well with about 4 inches of clearance above it. Last time I changed it I nearly threw out my back. There has to be a safer way to swap these heavy batteries. …more

Onan 4KY Generator Starts Then Dies: Oil Pressure Sensor Troubleshooting Guide

About to sound like a total newbie here, but why does my 2018 Winnebago Spirit's Onan 4KY-26100R generator start perfectly then instantly die when I release the start switch? I suspect it's the oil pressure sensor based on what I've read, but want to confirm this diagnosis before ordering parts. Oil level appears normal. I've tried locating the oil sensor near the oil filler tube on the crankcase, but it's difficult to see or reach. Is there a way to test if the oil pressure sensor is actually the problem? Can I bypass it temporarily to verify that's the issue? …more

Ford F53 Speedometer Stuck at 60 km/h: RV Dashboard Repair Guide

Despite having electrical work done on my 1999 Ford F53 motorhome, the speedometer has been permanently stuck at 60 km/h regardless of actual driving speed. The gauge reads accurately up to 60 km/h but then just stays pegged there no matter how fast I'm actually going. I'm worried this could be dangerous since I can't tell my real speed on highways.

What's strange is that my odometer keeps working perfectly and even my cruise control still functions normally. I'm hesitant to start tearing into the dashboard without knowing what I'm dealing with. Could this be the speed sensor failing, or is it something else? I really need to understand what's causing this before I risk damaging other components. …more

2006 Fleetwood Tioga Fuel Shutoff Switch Location: Complete Guide

Tried everything to get my 2006 Fleetwood Tioga running after it started cutting out randomly yesterday, but can't even find the fuel shutoff switch. I think it might be related to the inertial fuel shutoff switch, but I honestly have no idea where to even start looking for it.

Could someone please help me understand where this switch is typically located on this model? I've heard it could be in a few different spots but I don't want to go tearing apart panels randomly. Any guidance on the most common locations would be really appreciated! …more

How to Fix Generac RV Generator Oil Leaks After Breather Hose Replacement Guide

How to Fix Generac RV Generator Oil Leaks After Breather Hose Replacement Guide

Looked like a simple breather hose replacement on my Generac RV generator, but ever since I finished the job, oil has been leaking everywhere. I replaced the cracked original-style breather hose with a new version that now includes an elbow and short extension inside the air filter housing. While the hose replacement definitely helped reduce the oil drip, I'm still seeing some persistent leakage underneath the unit.

The new hose design appears to be an upgrade from Generac, with the uphill extension meant to help oil sucked from the crankcase run back down into the engine. I'm hoping this will further minimize the drip issue. I want to make sure I'm not missing something obvious before I take it to a repair shop. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with their Generac generator's breather tube? Any guidance on troubleshooting would be really appreciated. …more

RV Water Heater Drain Plug: Use Teflon Tape or Not?

Since my 2016 Coachman Mirada Class A needs its water heater drain plug serviced — would this repair even be covered under warranty? During my pre-delivery inspection at the dealership, the tech pointed out that the previous owner had swapped out the original plastic drain plug on the Suburban water heater with some kind of aftermarket metal plug. He recommended I get the proper factory plastic plug installed before any camping trips. I've got the correct replacement part now, but I'm not sure about the installation process. Should I be wrapping the threads with Teflon tape before threading it in, or does the plug seal properly on its own? I want to make sure I don't create any leaks, but I also don't want to over-seal it if that's not how it's designed to work. …more

How to Replace Broken RV Window Lock Arms: Complete Repair Guide

Walked out to check my RV last month when one window lock arm was just wobbly, but now three have completely snapped off! Several of my window lock arms have decided to give up the ghost, leaving me with windows that won't stay shut properly. I'm starting to feel like my RV is slowly falling apart one tiny plastic piece at a time.

I've been hunting around online but I'm drowning in generic hardware that doesn't seem to match what I need. Should I be looking at the original manufacturer, or are there universal replacement options that actually work? Any advice on the best places to source these parts without breaking the bank would be amazing! …more

RV Engine No Spark? Complete Troubleshooting Guide to Fix Starting Issues

Wondering which ignition component to grab from this auto parts store aisle when my RV engine has zero spark and won't start. engine turns over fine but just won't fire up. I'm pretty sure it's a no-spark situation since I can't get any ignition happening. I've already tried replacing the coil twice, the distributor, and the ignition switch, and I still have 10-11 volts going to the coil but no spark.

Been reading that this could be a few different things - maybe the crank sensor went bad, or possibly the ignition module, or even the coil itself? I'm decent with basic troubleshooting but honestly don't know the best way to test these components systematically. Don't want to just start throwing parts at it and hope something works. What's the smart approach to figure out which component is actually causing the no-spark issue? …more

RV Window Water Leak Repair Guide - DIY Solutions

Between the excitement of buying our RV two months ago and our first Arizona rainstorm, I discovered the previous owner left every window leaking like a sieve. I discovered wet carpet around the passenger seat area that has a musty smell. The dampness is directly below our sliding window, and I can see some wallboard swelling at the bottom right corner of the window frame. What's puzzling me is that the exterior window seals look fine, and there's no visible water damage on the inside wall surface. Could this be water running down inside the window frame itself? I'm wondering if blocked window drains could cause this issue. We're on a tight budget - is this something I can tackle myself by re-caulking, or do I need professional help? I'd rather avoid dealer costs if possible. …more

How to Replace RV Ignition Lock Cylinder: Step-by-Step Repair Guide

Three times this week my RV ignition has done something bizarre — the key slides in perfectly but refuses to turn at all, like it's completely seized. I've been working on replacing the ignition lock cylinder in my 2003 Hurricane RV after losing my keys, and I think I've made things worse. When I drilled out the old cylinder and pulled it out, some kind of gear mechanism came with it and now I can't get everything aligned properly.

The frustrating part is that I can turn the key and all the dashboard lights come on, but when I try to actually crank the engine, absolutely nothing happens. I've tried realigning the gear multiple times but I'm obviously missing something important. I'm wondering if I need to remove the steering column covers to get better access, or if this is complicated enough that I should just bite the bullet and call a locksmith.

Has anyone dealt with this type of ignition lock cylinder gear failure before? I really need to get this RV running again and I'm hoping there's a straightforward way to replace the whole lock cylinder assembly properly. …more

1989 Georgie Boy Ford 460 Engine Belt Routing Diagram & Replacement Parts Guide

Walked through a YouTube tutorial to replace the serpentine belt on my 1989 Georgie Boy Ford 460 but somehow made the routing even more confusing than before. I have a 1989 Georgie Boy Encounter with a Ford 460 engine, and I'm having belt issues after some alternator work.

I'm not entirely sure about the belt setup on this engine - how many belts should there be? Is it a serpentine system or separate belts for different accessories? I'm also wondering about the routing pattern and if there are specific part numbers I should be looking for.

Any help figuring out the correct belt configuration would be greatly appreciated. I want to make sure I get this right before attempting the installation. …more

P0339 Code Fix: Ford 7.3 Godzilla Crankshaft Sensor Diagnosis & Repair Guide

Every time I see that P0339 code pop up on my Ford 7.3 Godzilla, I wonder — would crankshaft position sensor replacement be covered under my extended warranty? My 2022 RV with the 7.3 Godzilla engine (27k miles) threw a P0339 code along with hard starting and poor acceleration. Engine would barely turn over, then when it finally started it ran like garbage with warning lights everywhere. Could barely maintain 10mph before I had to shut it down.

Here's the weird part - I cleared the codes with my scanner and everything went back to normal! Engine starts fine now and runs perfectly. But I'm worried this is just the calm before the storm. What does P0339 actually mean on the Godzilla motor, and should I expect this problem to come back? Really hoping this might still be covered under warranty since the miles are so low. …more
